Triathler meets the needs of Bristol University

One project that it has been applied to involves the investigation of Carbon-14 concentration and distribution in legacy graphite waste from the decommissioning of Magnox reactors. Here the Triathler is being used to monitor the Carbon-14 content in solutions used to capture carbon dioxide produced during thermal decomposition of graphite.

Liam Payne, a researcher at the centre, who was instrumental in the process of acquiring the Triathler is very pleased its performance. "The instrument was chosen due to ease of use. It is virtually 'plug and play," says Liam. "It is also relatively small, which means it can be taken to the location of the experiments rather than having to transfer samples between locations."
