LabLogic maximises searchability of pharma's LIMS

LabLogic Systems has helped a major biopharmaceutical company to create a Pipeline Pilot reporting tool that can query for study data held in its Debra drug metabolism LIMS and deliver a customised report in a form that is meaningful to users.
The company uses the Accelrys Pipeline Pilot in many departments for querying information in multiple databases, and the reporting tool it has developed with LabLogic makes it easier to retrieve study information held in Debra.
By querying for studies based on specified attributes, users can gain access to relevant data and information from several software applications, even if they are not personally familiar with them.
For example, they can search across studies to find all the projects run on a particular compound within a certain date range. Users are presented with summary information on those projects and can then drill down to get specific reporting information, such as dosing data and sampling times.
LabLogic systems director Huw Loaring explained that Debra holds its reports in specific categories such as dosing, formulation and sampling. "Using an external query tool like Pipeline Pilot allows users to cross these boundaries and build additional reports," he said. "It's a very effective means of complementing and extending the system."
"If they wish, customers can build their own report queries manually or extract data to their company compound database of course but, as in this case, we are always willing to work with them by providing information about Debras database structure and supplying sample queries, which in our experience gives faster and more reliable results."
