Radiation counter gives immediate results at emergencies
24 August 2010
The Triathler portable radiation counter from LabLogic Systems gives accurate on-the-spot readings that could save lives in an emergency response situation.
Already used by public safety bodies, it is compact and light enough to be included among the specialist equipment aboard vehicles and mobile laboratories attending incidents where radiation contamination might pose a threat.
"If emergency personnel need to check for a radiological hazard they could use a hand-held monitor, which may not be sufficient for certain isotopes, or carry out a wipe test and then lose valuable time waiting for the results, which is far from ideal," says LabLogic sales executive Scott Baker.
"But Triathler tells you what you need to know right there and then. All you have to do is drop the sample into the counting well, press one button - and the reading is displayed immediately."
