LabLogic recently supplied Hidex instruments to two key departments at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center.
The Center forms part of a nationwide network of medical establishments dedicated to the care of Veterans throughout the United States. These medical centers and clinics are administered by the Department of Veteran's Affairs which is proud to provide the most comprehensive system of assistance for Veterans of any nation in the world, the roots of which can be traced back as far as the 1830's.
The Louis Stokes facility offers a full range of primary, secondary and tertiary care services to an eligible Veteran population covering 24 counties in Northeast Ohio. Care is provided to more than 110,000 Veterans each year through an inpatient tertiary care facility (Wade Park), 13 Multi-Specialty Clinics, Vet Centers, and numerous community-based contract nursing homes.
The Center is also home to two research centers of excellence and is currently participating in research projects totalling more than $30 million. It is here that the Hidex 300 SL Liquid Scintillation Counter has been installed. The 300 SL is a revolutionary instrument which incorporates the most advanced technology available, triple-to-double coincidence ratio (TDCR) counting. TDCR utilizes a unique design with three photomultiplier detectors aligned 120 degrees from each other, which offers superior efficiency and counting results for advanced research work.
In the Center's Nuclear Medicine department, LabLogic have installed another Hidex instrument, the AMG Automatic Gamma Counter. Its 3" NaI well type crystal provides superb counting efficiency and its optimized lead shielding ensures low background and minimal interference from samples on the conveyor. The Hidex AMG is also equipped with a powerful multichannel analyzer for detailed spectrum analysis.
Both instruments should benefit these departments substantially and in turn will help them meet the needs those who have selflessly served their country.
