Twelvetrees Lab choose the Absorbance 96 plate reader for protein quantification assays
Dr. Alison Twelvetrees, a Sir Henry Dale Fellow at the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN), has been using the Absorbance 96, the only truly portable compact plate reader with solid-state technology.
SITraN is a leading centre for research into Motor Neurone Disease, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s Disease. As part of the institute, Twelvetrees Lab leads unique and innovative postdoctoral research into how the microtubule transport system contributes to neuronal health and disease. In her research, Alison conducts protein quantification assays, turbidity measurements, and optical densities of bacteria for protein expression.
Here’s what she had to say about the Absorbance 96.
User-friendly and maintenance-free
“The Absorbance 96’s software is really user-friendly because it’s so simple and intuitive. The plate reader itself doesn’t require any maintenance, so it allows researchers to focus on their actual research, rather than having to spend time manually setting up, like so many other instruments need. With 96 individual detection units, it allows smaller pieces of research to be done quickly.
Supporting independent research
“The Absorbance 96 is indispensable for running a small independent lab. It’s compact and lightweight, which is perfect when lab space is at a premium. Having a clever little piece of equipment like this really helps things move along. I’ve already recommended this to colleagues at SITraN and other independent researchers in my field.
“LabLogic is a great company to work with. Their support is so accessible to reach and has been excellent.”
