Detecting gamma-emitting radionuclides in PET/SPECT

The Logi-CHROM ONE r-HPLC can be installed with a choice of radiodetectors to suit specific imaging applications
The Logi-CHROM ONE is an integrated r-HPLC solution for PET/SPECT Quality Control that houses all necessary HPLC modules (degasser, solvent mixer, solvent pump, injection valve, column, UV and radiodetectors) within a single enclosure. The radiodetection module is based on LabLogic’s proven Flow-RAM, and users can choose from three different options of radiodetectors, allowing you to choose the configuration that best aligns with your application.
Users can choose from:
- Well-type 4π NaI(TI) scintillation detector
- 1” NaI(TI) scintillation detector
- 2” NaI(TI) scintillation detector
Counting lower-activity gammas using 4π
The well-type detector with 4π NaI(TI) scintillation geometry provides almost complete solid angle coverage of the radioactive source by surrounding it and detecting the isotropic radiation decay events. This allows for more accurate and precise measurements, especially for the measurement of lower activity samples containing gamma-emitting radionuclides, where sensitivity is important. The 4π detector includes a set of fixed volume measurement cells and holder to ensure reproducible positioning for each sample.
The improved counting efficiency associated with the 4π detector allows users to measure a smaller radioactive sample, meaning personal safety is improved as users can reduce their injection volume or activity concentration.
Compact size, optimised analysis
The 1” and 2” NaI(TI) scintillation detectors balance a low shielded background count rate and high scintillation photon yield to optimise signal-to-noise ratio. Both are perfectly sufficient for most gamma-emitting radionuclides in the energy range 20 keV to 1.5 MeV (1”) and 30 keV to 3.0 MeV (2”), such as Technetium-99m, Fluorine-18 and Carbon-11, delivering good sensitivity.
Regardless of the radiodetector installed, each one is housed inside a lead shield that is 50mm thick to minimise ambient background noise. The Logi-CHROM ONE has an optional, external temperature-controlled column oven, catering to facilities that require precise temperature control during system operation. Users can maintain a consistent and controlled temperature environment for their HPLC column, ensuring optimal separation and analysis conditions.
